How to Prep Your Skin for Wedding Day Makeup

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and you want to look and feel your best. The most important key to flawless wedding day makeup is great skin prep. Here's how to get your skin ready for the big day:

  1. Start Early: The earlier you establish a consistent skincare routine, the better your makeup will lay and last. Ideally, you should start about six months before your wedding day. This will give you plenty of time to address any skin concerns.

  2. Drink Water: Did you know that our skin is the last organ in our bodies to be hydrated? Drinking plenty of water is essential for healthy, glowing skin. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated and plump.

  3. Eat a Healthy Diet: A healthy diet can do wonders for your skin. Focus on eating the rainbow, fruits and vegetables that are vibrant and rich in color. Eating lean proteins and and complex carbohydrates like sweet potatoes give your skin the nutrients it needs to look its best.

  4. Exfoliate: Regular exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and reveal brighter, smoother skin. Be sure to exfoliate once or twice a week, depending on your skin type. With proper exfoliation your skin care products will be able to penetrate your skin. If you don't remove your dead skin cells, those products will sit on top preventing it from penetrating your skin layers. Sis, don't let that expensive skincare go to waste and exfoliate

  5. Moisturize: Moisturizing is essential for keeping your skin hydrated and healthy no matter what your skin type is. Choose a water based moisturizer that works for your skin type and apply it morning and night.

  6. Protect Your Skin: Sun damage can lead to premature aging and skin discoloration. Be sure to protect your skin (especially in the sweltering Dallas heat) by wearing sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. Opt for a SPF of at least 50.

  7. Get Your Beauty Rest: Did you know your skin repairs itself at night? Lack of sleep can leave your skin looking tired and dull and it prevents your skin from healing. Aim for at least seven to eight hours of sleep a night to help your skin look its best.

  8. Work with a Professional: A professional bridal makeup artist and an esthetician can help you prep your skin for your wedding day makeup. They can recommend skincare products and treatments that will help you achieve the best possible results.

Remember Bride-to-Be, your makeup is only as good as the skin it sits on. By following these tips and working with professionals, you can achieve the flawless, radiant skin you've always dreamed of. Don't be afraid to ask your bridal makeup artist for advice on skincare, and be sure to start prepping your skin well in advance of your wedding day. With a little effort and commitment, you can have the wedding day look of your dreams.
